Trip Overview
The Bhasmasur Hill Hike is a day full of mountain views and quiet forests. This spiritually significant hike begins from Bhanjyang, a quiet ridge above Pharping, where prayer flags flap and chants echo from the monasteries below. The trail slowly climbs through pine and rhododendron forests to Champadevi Temple (2,241m), a powerful Hindu-Buddhist pilgrimage site offering your first panoramic views. As you continue toward Bhasmasur Hill (2,600m), the trees thin out and the winds grow colder with every step. The summit rewards you with jaw-dropping 360° views spanning Kathmandu Valley to the Langtang Himalayas.
The place is linked to the old story of Bhasmasur, who tried to destroy Lord Shiva. You’ll stand where stories say the demon Bhasmasur once prayed for power. From this sacred summit, you can see the Kathmandu Valley far below. On a clear day, you can see snowy peaks including Langtang, Gauri Shankar, Ganesh Himal, and even Mount Everest in the distance.
