Trip Overview
Champadevi is a scenic hilltop located at an altitude of 2,241 meters near Kathmandu, Nepal, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The hike to Champadevi is a moderately challenging trek that takes around 3 to 6 hours for a round trip, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced hikers.
The journey begins from Pharping or Hattiban Resort, passing through dense pine forests, stone-paved paths, and rolling hills. Along the way, hikers can enjoy the serene beauty of nature, with glimpses of the Langtang, Gaurishankar, and even Everest ranges on clear days. The peaceful environment and the fresh mountain air make it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu city.
At the summit, hikers reach the sacred Champa Devi Temple, a revered Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site. Devotees visit this temple to worship Goddess Champadevi, and during special occasions, the area is filled with religious activities. Apart from its cultural significance, the top offers panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and the surrounding hills, providing an ideal spot for relaxation and photography.
The best seasons for this hike are spring and autumn when the weather is pleasant, and the skies are clear. But avoid the monsoon season (June–September) due to muddy trails and leeches.Whether for adventure, spiritual exploration, or simply enjoying nature, Champadevi hiking is a rewarding experience that combines physical activity with cultural and natural beauty.
